Quick Advice: How to Avoid Overpriced Real Estate

Here’s some extremely quick advice on how to avoid overpriced Costa Rica real estate.

And let’s be clear – asking prices for real estate in Guanacaste can be whacky, determined on a whim without any real data to support what the listing agent tells the seller they can get.

In this video I give *ONE SIMPLE QUESTION* you can ask your Costa Rica realtor if they ever say, “This is a great deal!” Or, “You should really buy this house, it’s a great price!” I hear agents using those two lines way too often, and many times, they’re trying to create a sense of urgency in their clients and push a sale.

Do not feel pressured to buy property in Costa Rica without understanding comps and ACCURATE information about the price. If you are working with a knowledgeable professional, they will be able to provide you with comps to back up the price you are considering paying here.

And they should be willing to patiently wait with you while you find a price that is realistic. Realtors should represent their clients’ best interests, and if an asking price is too high, be willing to walk away from negotiations or wait until better inventory is available, instead of forcing a purchase through.

Again, this is just a quick one; I’m getting back into the swing of things following a month with extensive travel.
